Lantern Walk

The 3rd annual Lantern Walk sponsored by River Canyon School is a free family event. This year the Lantern Walk will be held on Thursday, November 12 at 5:30pm. It will be at the Shrader home. Please call Sarah at 361-6201 for directions.
Children and their parents will be bringing homemade lanterns to gather outdoors for the annual Lantern Walk. This is a seasonal festival celebrated by Waldorf communities and honoring ancient traditions of carrying light into the darkness of the coming winter. Families assemble in the evening, when dark is approaching. Then lanterns are carefully lit and the procession and singing begins. All return to circle to share snacks, songs and stories around a bonfire. Children often bring their families and friends. But it is also a chance for all of us who face the cold and potential isolation of winter to overcome these with warmth, community and light. Come join us with your lantern (it doesn’t have to be homemade).
Please bring: a lantern (if you have one-we will have some extras), warm clothes/hats/mittens as the festival will be outdoors (we will not be gathering inside), your beautiful singing voice, and a harvest dish to share. We will provide hot cider; it will be a good idea to bring soups, breads, and other easy-to-eat harvest treats.

WinterFaire at the Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork

WinterFaire, the annual winter-y festival of the Waldorf School in Carbondale, is on December 5 from 11am-4pm. It is a magical festival, with storytelling, puppet shows, crafts, and many events that are sweet and lovely, serving as an antidote to the chaos of the holidays.

Carbondale is 1 hr 40 min away. We'll be meeting at River Canyon School at 9am that morning to drive together.
